Service Information

Sunday School:
9:30 AM
Join us for Sunday School each week at 9:30am. Everyone begins in the sanctuary with a time of singing and prayer before being dismissed to various classes. We have an adult class and classes for children of all ages. These classes provide an opportunity for deep engagement with Scripture. Students are invited to contribute to the discussion and ask questions at their pleasure. Sunday School is dismissed at 10:30 for a 15-minute recess before our morning worship service.
Main Service:
10:45 AM
Our Sunday morning corporate worship service begins at 10:45am. Everyone gathers in the sanctuary to worship the Lord through congregational singing, Scripture reading, prayer, and expository preaching. We value the presence of young children in our services and think it is a beautiful thing for families to worship together. So, we do not provide specialized childcare during the morning service. We do, however, welcome parents to use our nursery when needed. Most of our attendees dress in everyday casual or business casual attire.
Sunday Night Service:
6:00 PM
Our Sunday evening service begins at 6:00pm in the sanctuary. Our evening service includes singing, a special time of prayer, Scripture readings, and a short sermon from our pastor. The Scripture readings on Sunday evening come from the Revised Common Lectionary and thus follow the church year (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost, and Ordinary Time).
Wednesday Night Service:
6:00 PM
We have classes for children of all ages each Wednesday night concurrent with the Crab Orchard School System calendar. We provide the children a meal in the fellowship hall each week at 6:00pm. After the meal, children sing songs, enjoy a Bible lesson, and then participate in a time of games or crafts.
Ministry Information
Children and Youth
Aside from Sunday School classes for children of all ages, we seek to serve children and youth through Vacation Bible School in June, our Wednesday night programs during the school year, several youth events throughout the year, and our partnership with Camp Hope during the summer.
Benevolence
We recognize that our brothers and sisters, as well as our neighbors in the community, have many needs, and we are committed to providing assistance whenever we are able. Our deacons oversee any financial or material assistance and several ladies organize meal trains when need arises.
Outreach and Service
We are committed to reaching our community with the good news of Jesus and serving others like He would have us to do. We do this through things like ministering in special care facilities, being involved with Good News Clubs, participating in community events like the Crab Orchard Trunk-or-Treat, and much more!
Meet Our Pastor
Josh Colson
Josh Colson became Angelville’s pastor in January of 2024. Josh was born and raised in Southern Illinois where he came to saving faith in Jesus at the age of six. While a senior at Johnston City High School, Josh sensed a God-given desire for pastoral ministry and began preaching in churches throughout Southern Illinois, even serving as Angelville’s interim preacher for about six months in 2014. Josh attended John A. Logan College for two years before moving to Middle Tennessee where he continued his education at Welch College (B.S., M.A.) and Vanderbilt University (M.T.S.). Throughout his time in Tennessee, Josh was involved in preaching and pastoral ministry. Josh met his wife, Hannah, while they were both attending Welch College, though they did not begin dating each other until several years after college. The hand of Providence worked through some mutual friends to bring them together, and that same hand has now blessed them with a daughter named Adah. Josh’s interests include systematic theology, church history, and politics. In his spare time, he can be found on a golf course, in a tree stand, reading, or taking in a St. Louis Cardinals ballgame.
